My name is Sandra Gonzalez, and I love food and nutrition. I was born and grew up in the beautiful country of Mexico. I remember my mother teaching me how to make the traditional Mexican food. I believe I have always belonged in the kitchen as I recall how much I always loved and enjoyed making fresh food when growing up. My educational background is an interesting one. I hold a Bachelors of Science in Economics from DePaul University. But my passion for nutrition stood out of me when I decided to go back to school and study to become a dietitian. I am currently a nutrition student in the Coordinated Program in Nutrition and Dietetics at the University of Illinois at Chicago. My current coursework mainly focuses on human nutrition and nutritional science. I had finished my community and clinical rotations, and I am currently an intern at Hispanic Food Communications, Inc. Through my previous educational knowledge and work experience in the business field, I have also obtained research, analytical and interpersonal skills. I am fluent in oral and written Spanish. Having acquired previous education and training in two different fields of study brings a unique and interesting combination to the profession of nutrition and dietetics. I am extremely motivated about helping people and making a difference when it comes to nutrition. My future goals are to obtain my Masters of Science in Nutrition, and work in the area of preventive nutrition since I hold a holistic approach about nutrition. I truly believe that food and nutrition can have a tremendous influence in our health. In my spare time, I love running, cooking and spending time with my family and my dog.
