A recent survey shows that more people are sleeping less than six hours a day, and 75% have reported having sleep difficulties more than one a week. Getting enough sleep is vital for your well-being as sleep deprivation affects every important mechanism. Have you ever asked yourself if there is any truth behind getting enough beauty sleep?  When you are sleep deprived, it shows on your face. Skin starts to look tired, dark circles appear under your eyes and your overall appearance suffers.
Your Body Works While You Sleep
At night, your body goes into hibernation mode. This allows your body to start doing some repairs. It produces new cells in order to renew your skin, it processes and stores carbohydrates, balances hormone levels and more. If you don’t get enough sleep, it can cause some major disturbances that can affect your memory, the way you handle tasks at home or at work, and can even suppress your immune system leaving you more susceptible to diseases. Start by organizing your routine in order to allow yourself to have at least eight hours a day and immediately people around you will see that you look more rested and rejuvenated. You will also handle your duties better as you will be able to multitask and focus better.

Everyone’s sleep needs are different and can vary from person to person.  On average, people need about eight hours of sleep per night, but some manage with seven hours without feeling sleepy or tired.
Tips for Better Sleep
There are a number of factors that can affect your sleep. A major factor is stress. Living a stressful life can lead to sleep difficulties. Stress factors can be work related, family related or even linked to certain illness.
Another factor can be your diet and exercise. The consumption of caffeine-rich beverages or calorie-dense food, as well as exercising close to bedtime, can prevent you from falling asleep and may affect the quality of your sleep.
Some sleep difficulties can also be triggered by environmental factors. Make sure that the room in which you sleep is not too warm or cold, is not noisy, and is calm and tranquil. Aromatherapy can also help. Try using scents that remind you of the sea, a garden or another place that relaxes you. This will calm you down and help you drift off to sleep. Another good way to incorporate aromatherapy is at bath time. Taking a bath can be very relaxing. You can incorporate different oils in your bath water for an overall soothing experience.
As you prepare for bed, slow down, try getting rid of the day’s problems, and know that tomorrow is a new day that you will embrace well-rested and prepared to conquer.

Live life and love it. Eat well.
