Healthy game rules with family bean recipe

Is there such a thing as keeping a balance diet while watching the most anticipated football championship game? The football championship is almost here and some of us take this football championship game to another level, specially when you live in the midwest. So here I am sharing with you a few tipss (I call them rules of the healthy game) that may help you eat mindfully while you enjoy the big game.

Rule #1
Serve tiny portions – If you have a large high calorie appetizer or dessert dish; make the portions very tiny. This way you can help your family and guest save hundreds of calories. The difference can be significant.

Rule #2
Start your day with breakfast – When we skip breakfast, we are more prone to consume more calories than the omitted ones, due to a poor decision lead by hunger. Simply, when you are super hungry you will consume more calories than if you spread them during the day.

Rule #3
Avoid or limit alcohol consumption – Alcoholic beverages provide many calories. Also, after two or three glasses or bottles you are not going to have much control over what you are eating. Your will power will go out the window once you start drinking alcohol.

Rule # 4
Bring your favorite low calorie or no calorie beverages – Why not bring some delicious low calorie beverages to the party such as water infused with fruit chunks/slices or herbs. Or if you still want the full calorie beverage try serving them in a 6 oz. or 8 oz. small cup.

Rule #5
Enjoy the conversation, the ambiance, the game and do not focus on the food – Try to stay clear of the food table. Grab a small plate of food and go mingle with other people. Make sure you talk to everyone instead of staying glued to the food table. People love having pleasant and fun conversations.

Here is a favorite party dip recipe – inspired by the Canned Food Alliance.

1-1/2 cups mozarella cheese, shredded
