Did you know that according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in the last 20 years, the number of adults diagnosed with diabetes has more than tripled as the US population has aged and become more overweight?

Hispanics are no exception, and in fact are at greater risk for developing type 2 diabetes. Currently, it is estimated that 50% of all Hispanics will develop type 2 diabetes over their lifetime.

Why is it that following a healthy meal plan is so challenging for so many? For some, adhering to a healthy meal plan may appear too strict, too complex to follow, tasteless or lacking favorite foods.

Today I want to share some amazing tools that will help you not only reduce risk factor for type 2 diabetes, but also allow you to continue savoring flavors, food, and life. With a little planning and creativity, your next meal can be delicious and good for you.

There are number of factors that may affect your blood sugar, with nutrition being of course the most common starting point. . For maximum success, I also recommend focusing on the whole picture of wellness and being thoughtful about your level of exercise, sleep, stress, and self-care

The good news is that the following tips may help you effectively prevent and/or manage type 2 diabetes:

  • Limit foods high in bad fats, trans fat, cholesterol and sodium
